$3.6 Trillion Dollars Circles the Drain

Does anyone care that this country cannot, and will not, be able to sustain the level of spending Congress has approved in their massive radical budget?

“It is a budget that puts the economy on an unsustainable course,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said, pointing to tax increases and the soaring national debt.

The budget “clears the way for massive amounts of spending, for the biggest tax hike in history and a doubling of our already crippling national debt,” he added.

Very few care. Do you realize that the total federal obligations which include Medicare and Social Security top $66 trillion? Oh yea, you hear about the $10 trillion dollar debt that Obama inherited…then you roll your eyes at the $10 trillion more he’s likely to add to it over the next 10 years or less because, you know, we have to spend out way out of this recession nor can we waste a good crisis. $66 trillion dollars. We are broke and Congress continues to spend and refuses to do anything about the entitlements. Every year we will spend $800 billion paying the interest. Who benefits? China.

The Republicans offered an alternative to the Democrat budget. Hell, 38 in their own party refused to vote for it. It was the Medicare/Medicaid part that spooked them. Seems that entitlement remains untouchable. But that’s cool. It will continue to drown us in unsustainable debt. The alternative plan:

…drafted by Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, top Republican on the House Budget Committee, called for eventually replacing the traditional Medicare program with subsidies to help retirees enroll in private health care plans. Current beneficiaries would keep their coverage and those 55 and older also would go into the current system.

Why would we hope anybody in this country would be willing to take responsibility for themselves at any age?

Every single year we will run a deficit close to a trillion dollars. And that is if nothing catastrophic happens or Congress decides not to spend any more money it doesn’t have. We are owned by China. Does it not bother anyone that we cannot sustain our way of life unless China decides to buy our debt? We are no longer self sufficient.

Michelle Malkin gagged at the response of Harry Reid. You will too if you care for this country:

“This responsible budget will start cleaning up the mistakes of the past and make critical investments in our future,” Senator Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada and the majority leader, said.

Responsible budget. Really? Hasn’t he been in the Senate for like 60 years? Hasn’t he been part of the leadership for years? Wouldn’t that make him part of the mistakes of the past? Anyway, he’s an author of the current and future mistakes of this budget.
