AP Needs Army of Writers to Mull Over Sarah Palin’s Book

The A.P. presented their Fact Check on Sarah Palin’s new book “Going Rogue”. It just goes to show what a popular, polarizing figure this woman is to get her own fact check. There were some good points and some dubious claims by the A.P. For instance:

PALIN: Says Ronald Reagan faced an even worse recession than the one that appears to be ending now, and “showed us how to get out of one. If you want real job growth, cut capital gains taxes and slay the death tax once and for all.”

THE FACTS: The estate tax, which some call the death tax, was not repealed under Reagan and capital gains taxes are lower now than when Reagan was president.

I don’t see how her quote says that Ronald Reagan repealed the death tax. The fact that she herself says to slay the death tax “once and for all” indicates it wasn’t ended. But the A.P. suggests that is what she is saying. She may be guilty poor sentence structure but not of bending the truth.

The A.P. worked hard to rip this book apart. Too bad they aren’t as diligent on matters that really matter. The following is the team that worked on this report:

AP writers Matt Apuzzo, Sharon Theimer, Tom Raum, Rita Beamish, Beth Fouhy, H. Josef Hebert, Justin D. Pritchard, Garance Burke, Dan Joling and Lewis Shaine contributed to this report

10 contributors in addition to the main writer. Apparently no expense, resource or time was spared debunking this book. Amazing.

I’m wondering–was a similar fact check done on Obama’s book?

Yea, pretty sure no Fact Check was done.

Interesting watching This Week with George Snuffaluffagus this morning. The whole panel had great fun pounding on Palin. The government establishment from the media neckties to the pinheads in Washington still can’t figure out why Americans like her so much. For someone who is “a joke” they certainly spend a lot of time trying to convince America of this arrogant assessment.
