D.C. Tea Party Aftermath – Politicians Clearly in Shock
I just got home from a long drive back from DC after attending the rally. I didn’t have much time to read through the commentary yesterday and after having took some time to go through the different blog sites and news outlets I simply had to laugh. They still don’t get it. The left are in complete denial. From the little bloggers to the government elite. They just do not want to believe.
They continue to discredit. They try to dismiss. Belittle. Ignore. But they are terrified. Absolutely terrified. Why else would they go to such lengths to suggest the movement was bogus, undersized, not growing?
They hope that by suggesting that the crowds were small, that the movement is losing momentum – They hope they can shut it down. Problem is every time a Tea Party is held, the crowds get larger and more enthusiastic.
When I went to DC I expected to be among a crowd of 50,000 or so. Even the Rally website suggested that would be the size. We got on the Metro about an hour and a half late. The thing was packed. And we were at the third stop from the end. The crowds waiting to get on the train cheered as the train roared into the station. It was my first “holy shit” moment. We packed into the train, at the encouragement of those in the damn thing! When has that ever happened!?
While we were on the train my daughter got a text from her friend already at Freedom Plaza that the police were telling them to start moving! We considered for a moment to go ahead a ride all the way down as close to the capital as possible but decided to get off at Federal Triangle and see if we could walk down with the stragglers.
Anyway, we kept adding more and more passengers on the long trip down to D.C. When we got to the Federal Triangle stop we poured out of the train and walked toward Pennsylvania Avenue. When we got there we were floored. It was jammed with people in each direction for as far as you could see. It was my second “holy shit” moment. I had never seen or been around that many people in my life. We just took a nice stroll down the Avenue chanting this or singing that. The crowd would roar from the back at something and like a wave it would just roll up the Avenue toward the Capital. It was a blast. So many cool and entertaining Patriots!
About an hour or so later we made it to the Capital. We left Pennsylvania and moved across 3rd St up through the grass toward the pool in front of the Capital. The pool was ringed with people. Unbelievable. We moved around the pool and tried to get in front of the Capital so we could see what was going on and basically couldn’t move. We pushed through the crowd and got to the SE side of the capital and found a good place to sit and take it all in. We couldn’t see the stage well because of the trees but it was fine. The crowd was enormous.
I’ve read the reports online. In the newspapers. On blogs. They claim “tens of thousands”. My ass. If anything it was hundreds of thousands. Maybe a million. The Parks and Recreation suggested as many as 1.5 million. There are some videos and screenshots at Michell Malkin’s site that show a time lapse of the people marching as well as a graphic from USA Today showing the numbers based on coverage by people of certain areas. This was provided for the Inauguration. Should work just as well for the DC Rally.
Gateway Pundit had a hilarious post on the trash left by the Tea Party rally in DC versus what was left by the Obama supporters at the Inauguration. Shows the respect.
There were many other Tea Parties across the nation. One in Fort Worth, Texas expected 5,000 Patriots. 20,000 showed up says the organizer. Lots of others just like it. Amazing.
Finally I read on Tweeter that Neal Boortz:
“Talked to Georgia’s two U.S. Senators at an event today. There’s shock on Capitol Hill over the size of the protest crowds this weekend.”
Yep. The White House and Capital Hill can feign knowledge of the event. But we know they are scared out of their minds right now. It is a beautiful thing.
