Democrats Terrified That the Independents Are Abandoning Them
It wasn’t 6 months ago that were hearing that the GOP was dead from many of the liberal neckties. James Carville wrote a book on how the Dems will dominate for the next forty years. The liberals were whooping and slapping each other on the back that they had destroyed conservatives and Republicans. Oh what a difference a turbulent spring and summer makes.
The only thing the liberals have done is awakened the people of this country. The libs didn’t get the message that only about 20% of this country believe in their Socialist and Marxist values. Far more consider themselves conservative.
And now comes word that the independents are leaving the Dems and libs in droves. The A.P. reports:
Mounting evidence that independent voters have soured on the Democrats is prompting a debate among party officials about what rhetorical and substantive changes are needed to halt the damage.
Following serious setbacks with independents in off-year elections earlier this month, White House officials attributed the defeats to local factors and said President Barack Obama sees no need to reposition his own image or the Democratic message.
Since then, however, a flurry of new polls makes clear that Democrats are facing deeper problems with independents—the swing voters who swung dramatically toward the party in 2006 and 2008 but who now are registering deep unease with the amount of spending and debt called for under Obama’s agenda in an era of one-party rule in Washington.
What do they need to do to stop the hemorrhage? Easy. Stop allowing the fringe, radical left dictate policy the American people don’t want. Americans want health care reform. They just don’t want the government to control it. They want a clean environment they just want a common sense approach. They want smaller government. Low taxes. And they want people in Washington to STOP SPENDING!
The average guy and gal in this country could care less about government until it starts messing with their lives. Sure there are folks who love big government. Plenty want a handout and will vote for whoever can provide it. But the people want a government that is not corrupt. That works for them and not the special interests. They are tired of saving and paying off debts only to see the government spending like complete idiots.
The thing is we sat around and were apathetic about the machinery running this country. Unfortunately for the elites the sleeping giant is awakening. They continue to dismiss all these populist messages and messengers. But the fact is there is a revolution brewing that the media is slow to observe and the elites are completely ignoring at their peril.
