Grassley Says They Should Commit Suicide – So Much Hate in This Country
Senator Charles Grassley suggests AIG execs should kill themselves. Seriously. The hell is wrong with the leaders of this country?
“I suggest, you know, obviously, maybe they ought to be removed,” Grassley said. “But I would suggest the first thing that would make me feel a little bit better toward them if they’d follow the Japanese example and come before the American people and take that deep bow and say, I’m sorry, and then either do one of two things: resign or go commit suicide.”
This country is so full of hatred. The execs who ran AIG into the ground should certainly be fired. Maybe even prosecuted. But who were the dumbass politicians that gave them billions of dollarts in tax payer money in the first place? For a politician to say these execs need to die because they are spending taxpayer money in ways that they don’t approve is moronic. Perhaps the politicians should have thought about these things before they doled out our money so freely. Rules could have been put in place. Perhaps the government should not have enabled this behavior. Let the damn place go into bankruptcy. And to wish that someone should commit suicide is just repugnant.
It’s the bloggification of the world. People are emboldened to say just about anything anymore. Political blogs across the web trade barbs trying to out insult each other. People have zero tolerance for your beliefs. Go read any blog from Drudge Report to Wonkette. It’s entertaining I suppose. Just see how far these people will go to insult other people. Everybody wants a You Tube moment of embarassments. It’s hip to rip people down on the Daily Show. Things are taken out context to entertain, embarasses, discredit or advance an agenda.
Today it’s politically popular to go after AIG for using our tax money for bonuses. In a perfect world they would have the principles to simply decline the bonuses because they did a poor job. Unfortunately they don’t care about principles. Just look at the ruins of their company. If the government can reclaim the money then great. But don’t you think it’s a bit hypocritical for those in Congress, even the President, to claim some moral authority over this money the government gave them, when they pass bills loaded with wasteful spending? Obama didn’t have the principles to veto a bill loaded with “earmarks” when he said he would. Who is he to say what AIG does with the money, particularly if contracts are signed and no strings were attached to the money in the first place. It’s all part of the political show. Where was the outrage when Congressman Moneypants wanted to spend $150 million on crab studies or some shit?
AIG should refuse the bonuses. The President and Congress should stop being hypocrites. Grassley should resign because he is a disgusting human and shows lack of leadership.
