I Want the Government Out of My Life
I’m an everyday guy. Nothing special about me. I have a family, a job and a few hobbies. I have a deep skepticism over government and simply wish it would stay within the confines of the Constitution and stop intruding in my life. I realize that many people in this country want something for nothing. I understand that many people have no problem giving up their freedom and liberties for the newest government welfare goody. Count me out.
Here is what I believe. I think that the government should provide a safety net for people. I have no problem with Medicaid and Welfare. I believe that if you fall on hard times that a country that is as rich as the United States should stand to help people get back on their feet. But when is enough enough? At some point people need to find their way back to the job front. But our system seems to reward people not to work. Sorry if the available jobs are not to your liking. It sucks. But sometimes you simply have to start over. And in America you have that opportunity. I’ve done it. I went from living in a nice house to quitting my job and starting over, with my family, and moving into a duplex at about half the pay I got before. But I worked hard and got myself in a career that eventually paid even better. The government did not help one bit. Not that I even thought to ask. I was free to make the change and accept the responsibility to take the risk.
I don’t want the government to provide health care or health insurance. For one it’s not a right. It’s but one of many things that Americans believe is a right but is really not. The Constitution does not provide you with the right of health care. The Progressives and liberals do not care about the Constitution and circumvents the document by passing legislation that erodes our freedom and liberties to choose our own health care. I believe that the government could do a better job of protecting consumers against insurance companies that try to take advantage of consumers. They should encourage insurance companies to make policies to individuals affordable. And what about tort reform?
But no, they want to control health care. The most elite of the Progressives and liberals want a single payer system. Why? It’s proven not to work the world over. How exactly is that going to improve our care? How will it make it cheaper? Our taxes will have to go up. And don’t they take enough put of your paycheck every week/month as it is?
Treasury secretary Geithner was on the Sunday talk shows today. He would not rule out increasing the middle class taxes to fund the deficit. Did you ask for the government to increase the deficit? Did you want TARP? Did you want the so-called stimulus bill which was simply a Democrat big government pork spending plate? Did you not think they could have done better with the Omnibus? How about cash for clunkers? Will that welfare program ever stop or will it simply be another entitlement program we have to pay for?
People made fun of those that protested taxes and spending during the Tea Parties. How can people stand by and watch their money being wasted by the government? Look at your check stub each month. The IRS takes out money before you even see it. Sickening. They rape you for Medicare, Medicaid, payroll tax, Social Security. Then the state comes in and gets their chunk unless you are lucky to live in a state like Tennessee that doesn’t withhold. But then they get you when you buy shit. Sales tax. User fees like car tags and drivers licenses and hunting licenses. And of course property taxes which has never decreased since I started paying them.
You have to be crazy to think this is a good thing. Maybe you don’t pay any taxes. Maybe you are one of the millions who get something for nothing. It will be tough for you to not vote for anyone other than Progressives. Maybe you like to see those who work and provide punished because they make more money than you do. The Progressives want everything equal. President Obama told the Joe Plumber guy that we need to spread it around. So why do I want to produce more than I do if the government will simply punish me for doing so?
I do not have the mindset that everything I make has to be shared. And no I don’t make near 6 figures. We are a single earner household too. We sacrifice. We don’t take vacations or buy new cars. We save and survive. We gave more to charity than apparently Joe Biden did last year. And I don’t want the government to have anything to do with me and my life. Except for providing what is specifically given in the Constitution.
Why do the Washington elites feel like they have the right to spend our money with abandon? Where does this arrogance come from? Why do we continue to vote these asshats in? How does a person like Henry Waxman, Barney Frank, Barrack Obama and Nancy Pelosi get voted in? I do not understand the mindset of the voters sometimes (of course if you look at voting districts you can see h0w corrupt that truly is). And why do they not believe in constitutional principles?
I’m just a simple guy. I have no political ambitions. Just asking questions. I simply do not believe in the people in charge of our government. I haven’t been a believer since Reagan. And I knew very little about him since I was young and uninvolved. But I’ve come to admire him more each day. I now realize that we haven’t had good presidential leadership from people who truly cared about the country but twice in the last 50 years or so. President Kennedy comes to mind along with Reagan. I am losing faith that this country can ever find leadership like that again. Too many selfish self interests and bad ideology. We are becoming a slave to our government. Our Founders never intended it to be this way. Yes I know you Progressives don’t care so save it.

I don’t know if it makes you feel any better but I feel exactly the same way. Cash for Clunkers has about pushed me over the edge. Tons of videos on YouTube showing the destruction of perfectly good vehicles. One video of a Volvo that certainly doesn’t look anything close to a clunker made me sick to my stomach. You’d think I was watching a puppy get euthanized. See you in September.
