Obama Orders Government to Buy GM Cars
This is unbelievable. The taxpayers have already spent billions on General Motors to bail them out. A company that should have been left to die. A company that sells very few vehicles that anybody even wants to buy. But no, the government decides stealing from the taxpayers is not enough. No, they decide to purchase 17,600 cars. The purchases are designed “to increase demand for American auto companies during these difficult economic times,” according to the White House.
So the government requires the car companies to meet a certain criteria to stay in business, but instead of allowing the free markets to work to either allow the company to achieve the criteria based on their merit, or fail and go out of business, the government swoops in and and buys all these cars so they will meet the criteria.
This is more bailout. This vote buying to keep the unions in the Democrats back pocket. I guess this was part of the spending plan that Obama rushed through. I think they referred to it as a “stimulus plan”. Instead of spending this part of taxpayer money in 2012, they decided to rush in and purchase cars to keep GM afloat. Is this really stimulus? I don’t think so.
