The Pelosi Stimulus Plan is a Fail

We tried to tell them. The $800 billion stimulus plan that Pelosi crammed down our throats was crap. We knew it was crap. Thousands of people showed up for Tea Parties to complain that it was crap. Exactly where in that bill was job stimulus? Nowhere. The Democrats said that they had to have the stimulus right now. The country was headed into a depression. Yet to this day they can only estimate that they have spent 10% of it. The Pelosi stimulus was and is a failure.

And even as I write that I wonder why it is a failure. Not much has been spent so can’t we just redirect the funds appropriately? Apparently not. The administration and other Democrat asshats are floating their trial balloons for another stimulus. If you’re counting we’ve already tried government spending twice to get the economy going. It hasn’t worked.

See, the problem that Democrats, and even progressive Republicans, won’t admit is that government spending will not grow an economy. Job creation does that. Certainly higher taxes and more government regulation will not grow the economy. But this government spending spree is not about jobs. It’s about power and control. The Pelosi stimulus was about expanding the size and depth of government. I am jaded enough to believe that they may not even care about jobs at all. They would prefer the populace to be reliant on a handout from the government.

But now they have a real problem on their hands. Revenue is falling short in the states and federal coffers. The jobless ranks are going up. The government releases data to indicate that the unemployment is close to double digits. Many believe it is already well in double digits. But Obama promised that if he didn’t didn’t get his stimulus then job figures would be over 8%. Uh, that would be a fail Mr. President. So now they are carefully crafting a way to spend more money in the guise of stimulus.

We all had hoped that if there was going to be a stimulus then the government should do it right. Unfortunately the American people have been swindled. There was no stimulus in that Pelosi bill. Do you feel stimulated? Do you feel better about your country’s economy? The Congress simply funded all their pork that they have wanted for the last 10 years.

If they truly wanted to get this economy going they would have tried something radical. Like suspending payroll taxes. The amount of money that would have been spent is equal to what they put in the stimulus bill. The people that earned the money could have spent it. Or saved it. The first stimulus bill that  Bush provided us was a bomb because it was mostly saved. Which is a good thing but didn’t actually stimulate anything. But if you stopped paying taxes for, say 6 months or a year, that would free up a lot of money to both spend and save.

Look I’m no fan of stimulus spending. But if the asshats in Washington are going to feel like they have to do something then maybe they should actually try to create jobs. The Pelosi stimulus is a fail. Now the asshats are concentrated on Cap and Trade and Health Care reforms. Is now really the right time to be doing this? How can we afford it? The other side says how can we afford not to? I simply don’t see how borrowing more money to pay for this shit can be a good thing. Particularly as our unemployment and economy continues to circle the bowl.

So they will wait another month when their bean counters officially tell them that unemployment is over 10%. They will wait until the people start moaning and crying about the economy. Then they will have an opportunity to ride to the rescue and spend more money. Our money. Money that our children and their children will be paying back for the rest of their lives.

America is screwed. Elections have consequences. Most don’t vote and those that do vote for idiots. Now we are stuck with these ideological retards. Nothing in how they govern is best for the country. They govern in what is best for the special interest group that gave them their money. They govern to remain in power and take control. The far left and right are fighting over their ideologies and the middle 70-80% are going to suffer for it. What we have right now is a government  elite majority that is anti business. They do not believe in our constitution and they do not believe in capitalism. We the people get what we deserve. Perhaps people will wake the eff up in 2010 and 2012 and we will throw these bums out.
