The Stimulus Spending Plan Could Be Better

The sad thing about government is that they feel like they have to do something. They cannot just let the market take care of itself. Or the economy. Which is fine because in this instance we are driving off the ledge. But it would be helpful if they could do the right thing instead of bankrupting the country. They are robbing from my children and grandchildren. All of this spending for the Democrats pork projects is just selfish. Where exactly is the change that was promised during the elections? The American people wanted changed. The Republicans spent us to a trillion dollars worth of debt last year. Not to be outdone, the Democrats are going to spend trillions in a month. If this is change I think we could do without it.

Obama was quoted during his speech that:

The federal government is the only entity left with the resources to jolt our economy back into life.

He is so disengenuous when he has our checkbook in his hand. This is simply not true and history backs up this claim. The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that 90 to 95% of private sector job growth got us out of the recessions of late ‘70s and early ‘80s. Even more telling is that the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office says the spending plan will actually lower GDP by .1 to .3 percentage points by 2019. They say if we do nothing that it would result in less debt and higher growth. Imagine that.

And exactly why is Congress and the President too arrogant to heed this advice?

Not to be outdone Tim Giethner unleashed his bailout plan for the financial entities. Hooray! He is going to put on the hook for another trillion of so. The Financial Times opined:

Tim Giethner unveiled his long-awaited bailout plan yesterday, only to watch the market respond with a near-400 point selloff. Is this the change we were promised, investors choruses with every “sell” order. Didn’t we already shell out $700 billion for last year’s bailout?

I’m not feeling rife with confidence from these people. Obama sure looks good. He seems professional. Very presidential. And it’s nice to hear our leader talk nice. But is that all he is? He comes across to me as a light weight. Granted he has only been in office for 3 weeks, right? Cut him some slack you say. I’m not being fair. He has to grow into the position.

But isn’t that the argument we heard against a Sarah Palin vice-presidency?

I’m sorry, but when you are spending trillions of taxpayers money, you don’t get a break. You better get this shit right the first time. And given the garbage that Comrades Pelosi and Reid put into the spending stimulus plan you are already in danger of failure. Isn’t it interesting that a president as popular as Obama, would give up control of this most important process to Congress? That is weak.

Give Pelosi credit for being assertive. She told her minions to back the truck up and load this bill down with every pork project they have ever desired. Now is the time to get it comrades!.

Obama was elected for his promise of change yet allows the establishment to dictate the results as usual. Again, it’s not enough to give good speeches. He needs to lead and we have yet to see any evidence that he is up to the task. I’m sorry that he had to hit the ground sprinting for his life. But we need someone with bold ideas to turn this around. All I see right now is the same ol’ shit that President Bush did, only on a much grander scale.
