TV Squad Writer Danny Gallagher Insults Tea Party Patriots

Danny Gallagher is a writer for TV Squad weblog. It is part of the Weblogs network of blogs that AOL purchased a few years ago. He wrote an article on Glenn Beck in which he made the point that $17,000 of police overtime was used to pay for Beck’s visit to Mount Vernon, Washington. It’ s a good question that 1) doesn’t concern Gallagher because he doesn’t live there and 2) has nothing to do with TV. The blog seldom calls out other celebrities in their off TV activities. But apparently since Beck, and Fox News,  is taking fire from the left these days, this wannabe decided to join in the fun.

That’s fine. He can write whatever he wants. I don’t have to read his articles or ever visit the website again. Eveybody has a choice here. But he can’t expect me to sit back and let another liberal insult those that dare to protest against our government at the Tea Parties. He ended his sniveling little article by saying:

Where are the teabaggers when you actually need them to protest unfair taxation without representation?

Yea, he used the tired and insulting word teabagger. The derogatory term that the left has decided to use to describe fellow Americans who disagree with them. Civility is dead in America.

I called Gallagher out on using the term. I complained to AOL that employees or contractors of their sites should not be flinging insults, especially when they do not tolerate them among the people that visit. If you are curious go to TVSquad.com and look for today’s article about Glenn beck. I will not be supplying that blog with a backlink so I’m not linking to it.

I did register a complaint with AOL. You can do so too if you feel as I do that these people need to be called out on using this derogatory term. TVSquad blog may seem like a nothing entertainment blog, but it is part of an American corporate media powerhouse. They need to be called out on it as much as NBC and ABC news. Click here to register your complaint. It doesn’t take much time.

“1) doesn’t concern Gallagher because he doesn’t live there and 2) has nothing to do with TV”

Have we really degenerated to the point where we can’t comment on things unless we actually live in the vicinity of where they occur? If that’s honestly the point you’re proposing, Glenn Beck himself would be out of a job.

As for your second point, it’s absolutely true. I for one have never, ever seen Glenn Beck on television. Nope, not once. Clearly he’s a man who is never on television and thus has absolutely no relation to it in any way, shape or form. You are nothing short of a patriot for pointing this out.

The Furlinator  on November 7th, 2009

You, sir, are stunningly retarded.

Let it the fuck go.

chris  on November 8th, 2009

Let’s see Sanz. 1)People are free to comment about whatever they want. The point that clearly zipped right on past you was that it it really shouldn’t matter one bit to Gallagher what the city spent to host Beck. He doesn’t live there so his criticism is pretty limp.
2) Yes, Beck is on TV. Thanks for the belittlement. But guess what genius, the event that Gallagher is complaining about wasn’t. Beck wasn’t on his TV show. He wasn’t representing his TV show. The only reason Gallagher brought it up was to advance his agenda on his well read platform.
My main point was the insult. That was apparently lost in your limp retort as well.
Thanks for reading.

Furlinator. Wow man. You really got me there. Laughably amusing that all the libs have to offer is childish insults and name calling. It’ll be OK. The grownups are coming back soon.
Thanks for reading.

I’m still not sure which is sadder: your incredibly weak attempts to defend why you think Danny Gallagher was wrong in writing a piece about Glenn Beck or the fact that a comedy article on the internet has managed to get your britches in a twist so fierce that you feel the need to rally people against it as though this will somehow change the world at large or will correct a great injustice.

But at least you care enough to come by, read the post and submit your little comment. If my post and comment were so inconsequential I’m guessing you would have found something better to do but you took the time to let it get under your skin and do your best to insult me. That’s cool. That’s why I wrote the piece. And let me try to explain again for the challenged: The point of the post was not that Gallagher had anything to say about Beck, though in context of what he was referring to had zero to do with TV. I could care less what he thinks or says about Beck. The point was an observation concerning the insult liberal hacks use to dismiss and ridicule those that protest against the government. It actually doesn’t have a place for decent and civil people much less on a TV blog. His political views are best served on political commentary sites. Hope that helps. Thanks for reading Mann-o.

“If my post and comment were so inconsequential I’m guessing you would have found something better to do but you took the time to let it get under your skin and do your best to insult me.”

I spent less than four minutes reading your article and posting my thoughts. In comparison, Danny’s article, by your own account, drove you to the point of calling up AOL to try and get him in some sort of hot water, then to start a petition over a joke you read on the internet. Now, I’m not sure how you define someone getting under your skin but it would appear that you and I are on two different wavelengths, Mr. Chris.

Right, because our opinions are moot if we don’t live in the area where the situation is occuring. Sorry, people in Darfur. I’d like to protest your living conditions, but since I don’t live there, my views have no value.

“The only reason Gallagher brought it up was to advance his agenda on his well read platform.”

Danny is a comedian. He has written for stand-ups, newspapers, magazines, and has nearly 30 articles alone on Cracked.com. He doesn’t have an “agenda” other than being funny. He wrote ONE article consisting of THREE SENTENCES, and suddenly he needs to be fired.

There is no agenda.

chris  on November 8th, 2009

You’re right. The horror in Darfur and the fact that a city paid $17K to throw a Beck party is completely relevant. Let’s see, one is an outrage that the people of the world should be concerned about. And the other is a hack whining about a thing in a city he doesn’t live in or give two shits about other than it helps advance his silly little agenda. His views are left. If he doesn’t have an agenda then why the snide Beck and Palin comments and the insult against the Tea party goers? Any idiot can see his bias in his postings when it has anything to do with politics. I suggest it has no place on a TV gossip and review site. You are free to disagree and apparently do. I appreciate the debate.

Again, the problem IS NOT that he railed on Beck. Don’t care. The fact that he used the ever so leftist popular slur against those that protest against the government is my beef.

Yep if he said some un-politically correct thing against oh, say the people of Darfur, maybe that might get you to give a shit. Maybe if he used a slur against homesexuals. Women. But we’re not. We’re talking about a disgraceful insult against a group that doesn’t bow before the Liberal alter of tax and spend. Civility, man. That is all I’m concerned with here. Really.

“The fact that he used the ever so leftist popular slur against those that protest against the government is my beef. ”

yea man freedom of speech sucks he should be fired for typing literally one word

I can continue this inane dialogue all you want. I love the traffic and comments this brings. So thanks. I’m fairly certain that, assuming you hold down a job, you could not walk up to your boss and insult him or her with a racial, sexual or any other kind of slur and expect to keep your job. Maybe *you* could. Most people in the real world could not, particularly if they work in a right to hire state. The Constitution guarantees that the government cannot infringe on your right to say whatever you want. It does not, in fact, guarantee that your company has to allow moronic and bigoted speech. I’m pretty sure, again, assuming you hold down a job, you wouldn’t last long calling your boss, or customer, “stunningly retarded”. But you go ahead and work that free speech on the job and see how far it takes you genius.

Funny, I was going through my stats and noticed I got a ton of traffic last month from Cracked.com. Seems Gallagher’s friends came to his defense. He even called me out…for calling him out. Outstanding! He even resorted to name calling. He’s so cool.

“The schmuck in question “supposedly” called my bosses at AOL and Weblogs or write them letters, I assume with some very strongly worded letters in all caps, left some comments on the site that irked my boss because he’s easily irkable and also started a petition at PoliticalLipskip.com, a site that (wait for it) he owns!”

No Danny, I didn’t put it in all caps. And I actually did contact the sites you work for. They probably didn’t much care anyway so what do you care? And what exactly is your beef with me asking people to write your boss(es) complaining about an offensive comment you made. On (here it comes) my site no less?

Pretty cool it got Gallagher all bent.

Stay classy libs.
