Walgreens to Offer Free Health Care to Jobless and Uninsured
The markets usually move to solve solutions if the government stays out of the way. Walgreens is taking a bold move to offer free health checks for the jobless and uninsured through the end of the year. The only stipulation is that the drugs are not free.
I love this idea. If this can take off it will make people think twice about government health care. Who the hell wants to deal with bureaucrats when dealing with your health if some measure of health care can be taken care of by the private sector?
Sure it’s a small step. These little clinics can only do so much. They can diagnose and treat respiratory problems, allergies, skin conditions and other ailments. But it shows what the market can come up with if given a chance.
I doubt the government will like this idea. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that the Obamathons will shut things like this down since they won’t have the control that they want. But good for Walgreens to try something to get ahead of the impending health care plan from our government.
