Government is the Problem. Not the Solution.

Whiny Democrats and Knucklehead Republicans

“We can’t wait for Congress to act, and if Congress refuses to act and if Republicans choose the path of obstruction, rather than cooperation, then the president is not going to sit here. This gridlock in Washington is not an excuse for inaction.” –White House Press Secretary Jay Carney

So, in effect, cooperation means agreeing with the Democrat agenda. See, the beauty of our republic government, and make no mistake, the Founders did not establish a Democracy, is that there are (supposed) to be numerous checks and balances built into the system. The government is not supposed to get its way. Because there is a lack of agreement there is protection of the people’s freedoms and liberties.

I want the government to be inactive. I want them to go home. I want them to stop meddling with my freedoms and liberties.

As the 5 Min Forecast reported yesterday “It’s not that the 40,000 new laws — state and federal — that hit the books yesterday for the first time are outrageous… it’s the sheer quantity that’s alarming”

40,000 new laws. THAT is what you get when you have agreement in government.

We are losing this country folks. Between the Fascist in charge, his Socialist agenda and his alphabet soup of tyrants, we are losing what makes this country great. And I have NO illusions that the GOP is any better. I seriously doubt any of the Republican muppets, save crazy Ron, would work to reduce the size of the government.

I wonder what you 2 or 3 readers are doing to prepare? Are you in denial that anything wicked this way comes? Everything cool? Or are you getting your money out of the dollar, out of the country, thinking about buying foreign real estate, expatriating your retirement accounts into safe havens and/or purchasing stacks of the precious? Your options as an American are few and far between unfortunately. The IRS has made it so that virtually no one wants to bank with an American.

Do you feel the boiling water? Are you comfy in your slow boil? You are the proverbial frog, you know.

One day you will wake up and find that the government has confiscated your retirement accounts. It’s happened before in other countries. They’ll make you “invest” in the government bonds. It will be the last desperate act of a government losing control and not being able to pay for its spending and borrowing excesses.

We have the most awful bunch of idiots running this government. 4 more years of Obama is likely. The transformation of this country from the land of liberty, hope and wealth will be complete as we descend into the morass of European Socialism or worse.

Perhaps our only hope lies with the hundreds of thousands of guns that people have bought since Obama was elected and the millions bought before him. Hopefully millions of bullets have been stockpiled as well. Obama’s second term will see war against the 2nd Amendment. The Founders were afraid it would be necessary to protect our freedoms from an overzealous government and gave us the means to do so. I fear we are fast approaching that moment.

In case you haven’t already seen this parody of a famous Norman Rockwell painting… http://iowntheworld.com/blog/?p=5316

In case you haven’t already seen this quote from a 1984 sermon by Dr. Adrian Pierce Rogers…

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the industrious out of it. You don’t multiply wealth by dividing it. Government cannot give anything to anybody that it doesn’t first take from somebody else. Whenever somebody receives something without working for it, somebody else has to work for it without receiving. The worst thing that can happen to a nation is for half of the people to get the idea they don’t have to work because somebody else will work for them, and the other half to get the idea that it does no good to work because they don’t get to enjoy the fruits of their labor.”

I really dug your 2012 “forecasts”.

I completely agree that Obama is a fascist who must go in 2012, but this may not happen simply because Republicans are too focused on “Beat Obama” instead of positive proposals. When the Constitution was adopted, someone reportedly asked Ben Franklin, “What have you given us?” To which Franklin reportedly replied,”A Republic … if you can keep it.” No republic in world history has survived — best example: Roman Republic >> Roman Empire >> decline, despotism / incompetent rulers, corruption from within, destruction from without – Vandals, Visigoths, etc.

Now (re) your suggestions (in no particular order nor any attempt at coherence …)

1. Water, food, guns/bullets, gold – all good. But what about heating, cooking, etc.? Generator? Needs fuel. Just try getting a zoning variance to let you bury a 26, 000 gal. gasoline tank under your backyard.

2. What about the non-storables, e.g., fresh fruit & veggies?

3. Prophets of Doom have been predicting the Imminent Demise of Everything since the 1970s – Harry Browne, Robert Ringer, et al. We’re still here.

4. What foreign country would you suggest we move to – Mexico? Morocco? Switzerland?

5. What can we do about non-portable assets, e.g., pensions and annuities?

6. Maybe a US gov’t default would be a good thing. Just kidding (sort of), but look – You want the gov’t to do less – I agree – what could be less than a virtually complete shutdown forced by our creditors if we default?

7. Would a US gov’t default result in the kind of economic meltdown we saw in the Great Depression? The world is a vastly different place now than in the 1920s & 30s. (Note I didn’t say “better”.) Maybe Uncle Sam could negotiate something with our creditors, like corporate reorganizations under Ch 11. Perhaps the gov’t could keep operating but under a Trustee who would keep the lights on but limit expenditures to income less debt retirement. Like it’s supposed to have been all these years.

P.S. My spell checker wanted to change “gov’t” to “gout” and “Obama” to “Baa”…

@Robert – you’re asking the right questions. The same ones that I am working through as well.

1. If it comes down to the basic needs I guess we’d have to do with fire. My wife cooked on a wood stove as a very poor child. And no she’s not that old!

2. My wife took a county extension service class on canning. We’ve been stocking up and rotating through them as needed/desired.

3. Indeed. But in your gut don’t you feel like something is different? That things appear to be accelerating to the bad?

4. Chile, Uruguay and Singapore are on my list. I’ve worked in Singapore and found it to be excellent…but expensive.

5. Exactly. I am trying to figure out what to do with my IRAs. There are solutions to “self-direct” the thing but it seems to be costly. The good thing is that you can invest in property, gold, etc., prety much anything. The idea is to purchase foreign real estate that would not be easily seized by an overzealous US government. Could your money be seized by another country? I guess. But I don’t find it any more risky than my home country and the crazy things that are going on here.

6. I think it might happen. Depending on who comes to power (military dictator or return to the republic or something in between) it could be good or bad. If we reset it like Jefferson once suggested, and the reason they created the 2nd amendment, then it would be excellent, assuming you survived it. I wonder if States threatening succession would happen before collapse. THAT would be interesting. Plenty of hard red leaning states would be happy to leave the union if it came to it.

7. I think we are in danger of a collapse that will be far worse than the depression. Everybody has an opinion about the causes and the reason for the length and the reason for the depression ending. I believe it was FDR prolonging it through poor policies. Many believe he was the reason we came out of it. I believe there was a reason the roaring 20′s were roaring. Thank Coolidge and Harding. They got us out of the deep depression that proceeded them by lowering taxes and getting gov’t out of the way. (Revisionist) History doesn’t like to show them in a positive light and typically calls them the worst Presidents in history which is bullcrap. But history proves that limited government and low taxes work.

No empire has ever survived. Our empire will eventually collapse as well. Whether we are able to pull the republic back from the brink is looking like a dubious proposition. Too many takers have overwhelmed the makers. The government has gotten too big. It continues to grow. I simply do not understand how the populace can find that a good thing.

It makes me ill to think what our Founders went through and those that fought for their freedom from the British tyranny only to give away our liberties to the tyrants within. It is unbelievable the freedoms and liberties we are giving up all in the name of social and fiscal “safety”.
“Any people that would give up liberty for a little temporary safety deserves neither liberty nor safety.” Benjamin Franklin. “

Not sure that O is a fascist. That consumer watchdog appointment? Boy, the words O used to defend that were definitely fascist.

Still I go back to Mussolini. For him fascism drew inspiration from the observation that politics is local. That geography and circumstance limited socialism’s ability to unite the world’s workers under one banner.

He was still a leftist. Still a socialist. But a national socialist. Socialism in each country, led by men born and raised with the local language and institutions.

I don’t think we know which O is for sure. I’m guessing he’s an old style Marxist, and not a Mussolini. But for us infidels its really a distinction without a difference.

@Cromulent – if I wasn’t being snarky I would say that the man is a definite Socialist. He is such a narcissist that any decent away from what he believes to be right…well then, he will simply impose his will regardless what the Constitution/laws say. He is a dangerous man with no regard for the Constitution. As such he is your basic Marxist in charge. I would like to see treason charges brought before him and many others in government that swore to uphold the Constitution. They failed and completely disregarded their oath.

Hi, splork
Do you still making money with adsense on blogger blog?
or the economy collapse will not keep us from burning down.

Splork  on January 9th, 2012

@Jack – there are some calling areas around Montana, Idaho, Eastern Oregon, etc., the “Redoubt” as a place to retreat to for safety against the imperial federal government.

@john – I only have a few self-hosted websites that I use Adsense on. I rely on Hubpages for most Adsense revenue. I think I might have 1 or 2 Blogger blogs running Adsense.

FWIW, I don’t bother with self hosting anymore. It’s probably been 6 months or longer since I created a new site. It’s not a business model that I would recommend but I don’t take MMO as serious as most and as I should. I do fine with my Squidoo, Onsugar, Blogger and yes, Hubpages, endeavors.

I do keep those (few) long running self hosted websites that are profitable up and running and keep adding products for people to consume. Shareasale, Amazon and CJ affiliate programs remain favorites.
